Hi everyone, I hope you and your family have a pleasant Thanksgiving next week. Think of us poor Detroiters as we attempt to digest our turkey after another Lions game. We sure had fun watching the Tigers go the World Series, even though St. Louis won. Genealogy Update: Thanks to cousin Jerry Finnigan who seemed to have a successful trip to Ottawa, Illinois in September as he continues to dig deeper into our past. Jerry was especially helpful in solving a little mystery about the fate of Harry and Mollie's home, Eastwood. It seems that the large family estate left behind when the family moved to Detroit in 1923 became an apartment building, then was razed in the 1970's. For some pictures of the grand old home, you can check out this link. Harry Kelly Inducted: Joanne Hagopian Kelly was notified by Ottawa High School that her father would be in the first induction for the school's Hall of Fame this January. I'm hoping to attend as is Jerry Finnigan. Let me know if you're interested in meeting us there, it's about an ninety minutes west of Chicago. Mel Brooks and Brian: Harry's grandson, Brian d'Arcy James, has been chosen to play the Dr. Frankenstein role in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein which looks like it'll be running in workshop form next summer in Chicago. He's starring with fellow Michigan native, Sutton Foster (Thoroughly Modern Millie Tony winner) and Kristin Chenoweth (Wicked). You can read more about the story at this link. (Thanks to one of you who sent me this tip. Unfortunately, your name didn't come through on the e-mail.) Florida Trip in February: Patrice and I will be bringing the kids down to Disney World in February. I'm looking forward to meeting Larry's son, Bob, in Celebration as well as perhaps taking a trip down to the West Palm area. If anyone feels like meeting up, let me know! Sorry my updates haven't been coming monthly, but I'm trying to just write when I've got something to say! Again, thanks for all of your kind words and support. If you ever feel like contributing, you can do so in the following ways... Build a Bio: Update your own bio page or anyone you know who probably won't do it themselves! If your kids want their own page, I'd be happy to give them one. Photos: Pictures are always welcome! Story Pages: I'm still working on the format of this page, but I'd love to have a clearing house for the great anecdotes that float around about all of our relatives. Thanks, Kevin Walsh |
