Hi everyone.
Hurricane Katrina: Please keep in your thoughts and prayers Shan Wright (Bill Kelly's daughter, Jerry's granddaughter) and Julia Kelly (Emmett Jr's daughter) as they recover from Hurricane Katrina. Shan and her daughter Emmy in Mississippi are putting their lives back together and Julia had to leave her home in New Orleans for her family back in Florida. There's a link to their stories on the front page of the website.
Brian d'Arcy James in Concert! If you're in the Michigan area (or feel like a road trip--I'll put you up at our house) try to make it to Tony-nominated Broadway star, Brian d'Arcy James Christmas concert in his hometown of Saginaw, Michigan on December 10th. Click here for a link to the concert's website. Brian is Mary James' son (Harry Kelly's grandson). Brian's a great performer and his concerts are a blast! New Bios: Thanks for all who have taken the time to complete some brief biographies in the past few months (including Harry Jr's daughter, Colleen Kelly). A special welcome to Laura Ann Kelly, our first foothold in the Emmett Kelly branch. Laura, the daughter of Emmett Jr. ("Major"), has just returned from from many years in Eastern Europe. I'm really hoping to hear from more of Emmett and Pauline's family. They're our largest branch and have an annual picnic on Easter Sunday in the West Palm area that I'm hoping to crash next spring!
New Old Photos: Martin's home page: Thanks to Joanne Kelly Hagopian who sent me a picture of Martin Kelly, Henry's father. I've never seen him before. He bears a striking resemblance to Sigmund Freud in this picture.
You can also see some great pictures (via Joanne) of the unique Kelly home, "Eastwood" on Pearl Street in Ottawa, Illinois. "Eastwood" is no longer standing, but Henry and Mollie's previous home is still there.
Jerry Kelly (who passed away last November) created a subdivision in Jupiter Florida, North County, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Jane Branch sent along a nice article from the Jupiter Courier that you can access from the front page. I also loaded up the notes my father and I took from many meetings with Jerry about his rich family history. They're not too chronological, but fun to read!
Look-alikes: I've had many people point out some look-a-likes in our family tree so I thought it would be fun to put some facest together. I started with my own photo compared to my father and my son at the same age. I then loaded up four other cousins' faces that many people have seen some common traits. Go ahead and take a look and let me know if you see some more!
Photo tips: What everyone seems to like most about the site are the photos, so I'd love to add more. If you've got any questions about sending me photos, I've got a handy photo hint page that might answer some of your questions.
