Thanks for all of your recent bio updates in the last few months! I hope you enjoyed the earliest Easter in quite a while. We just got three more inches of snow today in Detroit, three days before the Tigers' opening day!
New Bios...
Emmett's grandson, David Kelly (Keith's son), recently sent along some family photos and updated his bio page. His mom, Suzanne, sent along her bio as well.
Larry's granddaughter, Dana, also updated some pages on her husband and two sons as well as her sisters and mother, Sharon.
You can update your own bio at this page. Send along any photos to kwteacher@yahoo.com, too!
Shrek, the Musical
Congratulations to Brian d'Arcy James for landing the big green title role in "Shrek, the Musical," which opens on Broadway in November. But you can see it in preview run in Seattle this August and September.
Patrice and I traveled to New York a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed Brian in the off-Broadway musical, "Next to Normal." The night before, we had a min-Kelly reunion for dinner. Harry Kelly Jr's daughter, Colleen Kelly, newly moved from L.A. to Manhattan, joined my sister Katie and her cousin Laura Kelly and Laura's husband Warren Berger.
Return to Trip to Ottawa
Two days ago, my family met Larry's son, Bob Kelly, in Ottawa, Illinois, where James Kelly settled with his family from Ireland in the 1830's. Click here for a link. We were able to locate his son Martin's home and gravesite along with the home of his son Henry.
Patrice and I are hoping to return for another visit to Ottawa this summer, perhaps camping at nearby Starved Rock State Campground.
Henry's Sister, Mae Golden
While in the Chicago area, I also visited the 1947 home and grave of Henry's sister, Mary ("Mae") at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Click here for some info on Mae and her husband John's 1894 wedding. (It's fun to read the very flowery description of the ceremony and reception in her father's back yard.)
Future Reunion in Florida?
Dana and I have been speaking about a Kelly reunion. Florida, next winter sounds appealing (Spring Break for the kids--easy travel for many Florida Kelly folks). If you've got any interest in pursuing this let me know.
