In 2004 he completed his solo debut Christmas album, From Christmas Eve to Christmas Morn which is available through www.briandjames.com or CDBaby.com. Other recent credits include the Off Broadway play Flight with the Melting Pot Theater Company at the Lucille Lortel Theater as well as starring in the City Centre Encores Production of Pardon My English.

"Sweet Smell of Success" had Tony nominations for both John Lithgow and Brian.

Mr. James received a 2002 Tony Award Nomination for his portrayal of Sidney Falco in the Broadway production of Sweet Smell of Success (also Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations) co-starring with John Lithgow.He received an Obie Award for his performance in the one-man play The Good Thief by Conor McPherson (also Drama Desk Award nomination). Subsequent to the New York run, Mr. James performed The Good Thief in Ireland with the Red Kettle Theater Company and at most recently in Los Angeles at the Court Theater (Backstage West Garland Award, LA Weekly Theater nomination).Other Broadway credits include Barrett in the Tony winning Titanic (Drama League Honor), Lincoln Center's Carousel, Blood Brothers, Les Misérables (first National Tour). Off Broadway: Manhattan Theater Club's The Wild Party (Drama Desk nomination), LCT's Ancestral Voices, Velvet Vice with Janeane Garofolo (NY Theater Workshop), Kenneth Branagh's Public Enemy (Irish Arts Center, LA's Court Theater, Dublin Theater Festival) and Floyd Collins (Playwright's Horizons)Mr. James' film credits include Neurotica, Sax and Violins, Tina and Lance, The Exiles and Victoria Pool. Television credits include The Education of Max Bickford, The City, Rosie O'Donnell Show, Late Night with David Letterman, The Conan O'Brien Show, and PBS Great Performances (Rodgers and Hart).He has performed as a soloist for President Clinton at the Kennedy Center (Kennedy Center Honors, 1998) and also as a soloist with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops, as well as with Marvin Hamlisch at the Kennedy Center, with Megan Mullally at the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and a Barry Manilow mini tour of sold out arenas such as Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nassau Colleseum, Continental Airlines Arena, and Madison Square Garden.

Mr. James has appeared on numerous original Broadway cast recordings. He serves as a board member for the OBIE award winning Keen Company. He holds a BS in Theater from Northwestern University.
