I've lived in Virginia, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Germany, Vietnam, Thailand, Washington, and California
I met Cheryl in 1986 when I dated her roommate. Things evolved; Cheryl and I started dating which evolved into a relationship which became a marriage on July 4, 1989 (we felt July 4th was a perfect time and way to celebrate our relationship).
Cheryl and I love animals (we have five cats); we love to go bird watching. Cheryl is responsible for administrative services to the Dean of the School of Science at St Mary's College, Moraga, CA.
In addition to consulting, I have been teaching HR courses at U.C. Berkeley since 1989; I teach HR Management; Recruiting, Selection and Placement; Employment Law; and HR Certification Preparation courses. As an HR consultant, I work with large and small companies helping them design and implement systems that comply with federal and state legal requirements, providing training to management and staff, designing compensation and benefits programs, and assisting them with any other HR needs.
I was named after my grandfather, William Michael Dillon. In fact, I wear a big gold signet ring with the letters "WMD" (my grandfather's ring). My grandmother had the ring made for their 25th wedding anniversary. My grandfather wore the ring until he died; mom passed it on to me after my grandfather died.
In September, 1949. I was already enrolled as a freshman at U of D High in Detroit, when the decision was made to move to Florida. We moved to Singer Island September, 1949, right after a major hurricane destroyed the only bridge to the island. My folks enrolled me at St Ann's High in West Palm Beach. I started as a freshman in October, 1949. Dad would have to drive me to and from St Ann's by driving to the head of the island, turning onto Highway 1 south to West Palm Beach (30 miles round trip) twice a day. That went on for months until they finally replaced the old wooden bridge from Riviera Beach to Singer Island with a concrete bridge.
